Hospital alerts aim to stop senior medication overdoses

NCT ID NCT07008144

Summary

This study is testing if a simple computer alert can help doctors avoid prescribing dangerously high doses of a heart medication called digoxin to older hospital patients. The alert pops up in the patient's electronic record if a doctor tries to order a dose above the safe limit. Researchers will compare how often these high doses are prescribed before and after the alert system is turned on.
