Could a simple saltwater rinse boost gum disease treatment?
NCT ID NCT06692582
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using an electrolysed saline mouthwash (a special saltwater rinse) along with standard deep-cleaning can improve gum disease treatment. Sixty adults with advanced gum disease will be randomly assigned to use either the saline rinse, a common antiseptic mouthwash, or a placebo for one month. The goal is to see if the saline rinse reduces the number of diseased gum pockets better than standard care alone.
