First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether electroacupuncture (a type of acupuncture with mild electric pulses) can safely reduce pain in people with postherpetic neuralgia, a long-lasting nerve pain after shingles. Researchers enrolled 448 adults aged 45 to 75 who had moderate to severe pain for over 90 days. The main goal was to see if pain scores dropped by at least 30% compared to before treatment.
