First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests if using mild electrical pulses inside the rectum can help people with spinal cord injury empty their bowels faster and easier. Currently, a finger is used to stretch the rectum, but electricity might work just as well. The study will compare the two methods in 12 adults with spinal cord injury who have trouble with bowel movements.
