Doctors dig through old records to uncover hidden risks for elderly after broken bones

NCT ID NCT07147504

Summary

This study looks back at old medical records to understand why some older adults are more likely to die after breaking a bone and having surgery. Researchers will analyze data from about 3,000 patients aged 60+ who were treated for arm, leg, or spine fractures between 2010 and 2019. The goal is to identify which factors—like the location of the break, the patient's age, nutrition, and other health conditions—are linked to higher risks of death after surgery.
