First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested a new bone-grafting material made from eggshells (nano hydroxyapatite) against a standard material (hydroxyapatite) for repairing bone defects caused by gum disease. Twenty-eight adults with deep gum pockets received surgery and one of the two materials. The researchers measured bone regrowth, pocket depth, and gum attachment levels over six months to see which material worked better.
