Brain waves could be key to safer surgery for seniors

NCT ID NCT07266727

Summary

This study tested whether using a specific method to analyze a patient's brain waves (EEG) during surgery helps doctors give the right amount of anesthesia. The goal was to see if this leads to a better, smoother recovery with fewer problems like confusion (delirium) after surgery. It involved 200 patients aged 65 and older who were having planned surgery with general anesthesia.
