Portable brain monitor seeks clues to ICU confusion

NCT ID NCT07485244

Summary

This study aims to understand how often certain brain wave abnormalities occur in intensive care unit (ICU) patients who are at high risk for delirium, a state of severe confusion. Researchers will use a portable, point-of-care EEG device to record brain activity from 100 adult patients in medical, surgical, or heart ICUs. The goal is to gather knowledge about these brain patterns to potentially inform future care, but this study itself does not test a treatment.
