Brain waves could reveal hidden consciousness in unresponsive patients

NCT ID NCT07455682

Summary

This study aims to see if a special type of brain scan (EEG) can help doctors better tell the difference between two similar states of limited consciousness after a severe brain injury. Researchers will measure patients' brain responses to sounds to see if these signals can improve diagnosis and predict how well someone might recover a year later. The goal is to find a more accurate tool to understand what's happening inside the minds of patients who can't communicate.
