Shock therapy trial offers hope for most resistant schizophrenia

NCT ID NCT06456983

Summary

This study is testing whether adding ongoing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) to standard medication can help prevent relapse in people with severe schizophrenia who haven't responded to other treatments. Researchers will compare patients receiving maintenance ECT plus clozapine against those receiving clozapine alone to see which approach keeps people stable longer. The trial aims to provide better options for patients who currently have very limited treatment choices.
