Heart procedure support tested: On-Demand vs Always-On

NCT ID NCT06274411

Summary

This study is testing two different ways to use a heart-lung support machine (ECMO) during high-risk procedures to open blocked heart arteries. Researchers want to see if having the machine ready to turn on only if needed causes fewer complications than having it running from the start. They will compare outcomes in 176 patients with severe heart disease to find the safer approach.
