Mapping tiny brains: study seeks safer surgery for kids on life support

NCT ID NCT05237232

Summary

This study aims to understand how two different surgical techniques for closing a neck artery affect blood flow to the brain in children who have been on ECMO life support. Researchers will use advanced brain scans and computer modeling to compare blood flow patterns in about 30 children after either artery reconstruction or ligation. The goal is to gather knowledge that may help doctors choose the best surgical approach in the future.
