First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at a new way to close the artery after removing the ECMO life-support machine. About 102 adults on ECMO for severe heart and lung failure will be randomly assigned to either a stitch-based closure device or standard care (manual pressure or surgery). The goal is to see if the device is as safe and effective at preventing complications like bleeding or blood clots.
