New test aims to reduce bleeding and clotting risks in critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT04268940

Summary

This study looked at whether a new, faster blood test could help doctors better manage blood thinners in critically ill patients on ECMO machines. ECMO supports heart and lung function but carries serious risks of dangerous bleeding and blood clots. Researchers observed 61 patients to see if this new test could more accurately identify patients at high risk and guide safer treatment decisions.
