Heart scan showdown: expert vs. trainee in liver patients
NCT ID NCT03650660
First seen Dec 29, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a gastroenterologist (a liver doctor) with basic training could measure heart function using ultrasound as accurately as an intensive care expert in patients with severe cirrhosis and swelling. The goal was to see if simpler training could be enough for routine heart checks in these patients. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
