Blood-Cleaning device tested to ease breathing for critically ill lung patients

NCT ID NCT04617093

Summary

This study tested a medical device called PrismaLung+ in adults with mild to moderate acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a serious lung condition. The device was used alongside a ventilator to gently remove carbon dioxide from the patient's blood, aiming to allow for a gentler breathing support setting. The main goals were to see if the device worked for this purpose and to check its safety.
