NCT ID NCT05949814

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested how acceptable HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is among men who have sex with men and transgender individuals who agreed to HIV/STI testing through a community-based outreach program, both online and in person. Researchers recruited 209 participants via a geolocation app or community venues. The goal was to see how many people who were eligible for PrEP actually accepted it one month later.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help design better community-based programs to increase PrEP uptake and reduce HIV transmission among high-risk groups.

What could go wrong

This is a completed observational study with 209 participants, so results may not apply to broader populations or other settings. It measures acceptability, not actual PrEP effectiveness.
