Summary

This study tests whether adding an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) early after starting a heart-lung machine (VA-ECMO) helps people in severe cardiogenic shock survive. About 358 adults will be randomly assigned to get the balloon pump or standard care. The main goal is to see if the balloon pump lowers the chance of death within 30 days.
