Breathing tube switch may speed recovery from ventilators
NCT ID NCT02921334
Summary
This study tested whether performing a tracheotomy (a surgical breathing hole in the neck) early could help patients who are struggling to come off a ventilator. It compared a new method of switching between a breathing tube and a mask to standard weaning care. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce the number of days patients needed ventilator support.
