Early measles shot could save thousands of Children's lives

NCT ID NCT01668745

Summary

This study tested whether giving a measles vaccine at 4 months of age (in addition to the standard dose at 9 months) could reduce child deaths in rural Africa. Researchers followed over 4,500 healthy infants in Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau for three years, comparing survival rates between children who received the early vaccine and those who didn't. The goal was to see if this simple change to vaccination timing could provide broader protection beyond just preventing measles.
