New poop test could save tiny babies from dangerous gut troubles
NCT ID NCT02010268
Summary
This study tested a new way to help doctors spot dangerous gut inflammation in premature babies earlier. Researchers checked a simple stool test for a protein called calprotectin in 122 very premature infants. The goal was to see if this test, combined with other routine checks, could create a better warning system to avoid stopping a baby's feeding unnecessarily while still catching serious problems.
