Same-Day chest tube removal after lung surgery: a game changer for recovery?

NCT ID NCT04670523

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether it is safe to remove chest tubes on the same day as minor lung surgery. Currently, tubes stay in for at least 24 hours, which can slow recovery. The trial will compare patients who get their tube removed early to those who follow standard care, checking for complications like collapsed lung or fluid buildup. About 304 adults undergoing small lung biopsies or pleural biopsies will take part.
