Same-Day chest tube removal after lung surgery: a game changer for recovery?

NCT ID NCT04670523

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether removing the chest tube on the same day as minor lung surgery is safe. About 304 adults having small lung or chest lining biopsies will be randomly assigned to have their tube removed early or stay overnight. The goal is to see if early removal reduces complications and speeds up recovery without increasing risks like collapsed lung or fluid buildup.
