New Clot-Busting catheter approach could save lives in severe lung clot emergencies
NCT ID NCT06672081
First seen Mar 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether using a catheter early to break up blood clots in the lungs, along with standard care, can reduce death and prevent the heart from failing again. About 210 people with severe, life-threatening pulmonary embolism will be randomly assigned to get either the catheter treatment plus usual care or usual care alone. The goal is to see if the catheter approach improves survival and reduces complications like shock.
