Race against time: new trial tests aggressive treatment for deadly lung clots

NCT ID NCT06672081

Summary

This study is testing whether adding an early, minimally invasive catheter procedure to standard emergency care can save more lives for people with a severe, life-threatening type of pulmonary embolism (a large blood clot in the lungs). It will compare the new approach to standard care alone in 210 patients who are in shock or have had cardiac arrest. The main goal is to see if the combined treatment reduces deaths and prevents the heart from stopping again within the first week.
