New scan could catch silent lung rejection years earlier
NCT ID NCT03603899
Summary
This study tested a new type of MRI scan using a special gas to see if it can detect early signs of a serious complication called BOS in people who have had a lung transplant. BOS is a form of chronic rejection that affects over half of transplant recipients who survive five years. The goal was to see if this scan, combined with small lung samples, could spot problems much earlier than current methods, potentially leading to better long-term health for patients.
