New In-Office procedure aims to fix eardrums without surgery

NCT ID NCT06448039

Summary

This study is testing if a gel containing a growth factor (FGF2) can heal long-standing holes in the eardrum when applied in a doctor's office. It compares this gel to a simple saline solution in 20 adults. The goal is to find a non-surgical way to close these holes, which could help people avoid an operation.
