Zap the ear, soothe the Wake-Up? new study tests calming method for kids after surgery

NCT ID NCT07394647

Summary

This study is testing whether a gentle, non-invasive electrical stimulation applied to a child's ear during tonsil surgery can help them wake up more calmly from anesthesia. The goal is to reduce common post-surgery problems like agitation and confusion, which can be distressing. Researchers will compare the calming effects of the real stimulation to a fake (placebo) version in 120 children to see if it's safe and effective.
