First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether mild electrical stimulation on the ear could improve the balance between the 'fight or flight' and 'rest and digest' nervous systems in healthy older adults aged 65-80. Researchers measured heart rate variability, hand steadiness, balance, and more in 12 participants. The goal was to see if this simple, non-invasive technique could help counteract age-related nervous system changes.
