Could two extra drugs revive immunotherapy for tough lung cancers?

NCT ID NCT05013450

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing whether adding two drugs, dupilumab and anakinra, to standard immunotherapy can help people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer whose cancer has stopped responding to treatment. About 33 participants will receive the combination to see if it is safe and whether it can shrink tumors. The goal is to find a new way to overcome resistance to current immunotherapies.

Active substance

Dupilumab, Anakinra, and PD-1/PD-L1 blockers (immunotherapy drugs)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced lung cancer whose current immunotherapy has stopped working.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 33 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Adding these drugs may also increase side effects.
