Double drug attack shows promise against tough head and neck cancers

NCT ID NCT02979977

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of two targeted drugs, afatinib and cetuximab, in 50 adults with advanced head and neck cancer that had already been treated with chemotherapy or immunotherapy. The goal was to see if the drug pair could shrink tumors. While the treatment aims to control the disease, it is not a cure, and patients may need ongoing management.
