Double-Duty drugs: can two antibiotics beat a deadly blood infection faster?

NCT ID NCT07148960

Summary

This study is testing if starting hospitalized patients with a Staphylococcus aureus blood infection on two IV antibiotics right away works better than using just one. The goal is to clear the infection from the blood faster, prevent it from spreading to other body parts like the heart or spine, and help patients get better sooner. About 300 patients at specific West Virginia hospitals will be randomly assigned to receive either one or two antibiotics, then switch to pills once the infection is gone, with follow-up for 12 weeks.
