New laser technique aims to ease glaucoma treatment

NCT ID NCT07408154

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study compares two FDA-approved laser treatments for open-angle glaucoma, a condition that damages the optic nerve due to high eye pressure. Both treatments aim to lower eye pressure and prevent vision loss. The newer technique, DSLT, does not require touching the eye and may be more comfortable. About 172 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either DSLT or standard SLT and will be followed for one year.
