New cell therapy takes on deadly transplant complication

NCT ID NCT04118556

First seen May 20, 2026 ยท Last updated May 20, 2026

Summary

This study tested a new treatment called DSC (donor stem cells) compared to the best available standard therapy for people with severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a stem cell transplant. GVHD happens when donor immune cells attack the patient's body, and this study focused on cases that didn't get better with steroids. The trial was stopped early, but researchers looked at safety and how many patients had a lasting response by day 56.
