First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study tested if dry needling (inserting thin needles into muscle trigger points) can reduce jaw pain in people with temporomandibular disorder (TMD). 40 adults with jaw pain for at least 3 months received either dry needling or standard physical therapy. The main goal was to see if dry needling lowers pain intensity and changes muscle activity measured by EMG.
