Zap and poke: can electricity boost needle therapy for muscle pain?

NCT ID NCT07384247

Summary

This study tested whether combining two common physical therapy treatments—dry needling and electrical stimulation—works better to relieve painful muscle knots (trigger points) in the calf. Researchers compared the combined treatment against each treatment alone and a fake treatment in 40 healthy volunteers. The goal was to see which approach best increased pain tolerance and changed muscle activity.
