Scientists probe the hidden pain of dry eye

NCT ID NCT06411132

Summary

This study aimed to understand how Sjögren's-related dry eye affects the nerves and pain sensitivity in the cornea (the clear front of the eye). Researchers observed 103 adult patients, measuring their eye sensitivity and tear production with standard clinical tools and a pain questionnaire. The goal was to gather information to help doctors better understand this specific type of dry eye, not to test a new treatment.
