Could the bugs in your eyes be the key to beating dry eye?
NCT ID NCT06936462
Summary
This study looked at whether a specific eye drop (cyclosporine A) could help relieve dry eye symptoms and change the community of bacteria living on the surface of the eye. Fifty adults with dry eye were randomly assigned to use either the cyclosporine drops or a standard lubricating drop for 12 weeks. Researchers measured their symptoms and collected samples to analyze the eye's microbiome, aiming to see if changes in bacteria were linked to feeling better.
