Breakthrough drug trial aims to stop limb amputations

NCT ID NCT05372718

Summary

This study is testing whether a new clot-dissolving drug called Fortelyzin® can save a limb from amputation as effectively as emergency surgery. It will compare the drug, delivered directly into the clot, against standard surgical treatment in 170 patients with sudden, severe loss of blood flow to an arm or leg. The main goal is to see which treatment is better at preventing the need for amputation.
