Balloon vs stent: new hope for heart attack patients?
NCT ID NCT06746233
First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests if a drug-coated balloon is as good as or better than the usual drug-coated stent for opening blocked arteries during a heart attack. About 600 adults having a specific type of heart attack (STEMI) will be randomly assigned to get one of the two treatments. The main goal is to see which approach better prevents heart-related death, another heart attack, or the need for a repeat procedure.
