Heart drug trial halted: did it stop scarring after surgery?
NCT ID NCT04704050
Summary
This study tested if the drug dronedarone could slow down heart scarring and prevent a return of irregular heartbeat in people who had just undergone a heart ablation procedure. Twenty-two patients were randomly assigned to receive either the real drug or a placebo pill for a year. Researchers used heart scans and wearable monitors to track if the irregular heartbeat came back and if scarring in the heart got worse.
