Summary
This study tested a personalized breathing machine setting during open abdominal surgery to prevent lung complications like pneumonia or respiratory failure. Over 1400 patients at high risk for lung problems took part. The approach aimed to avoid high pressure on the lungs by adjusting the ventilator settings for each person.
