Common antibiotic could shield young hearts from rare disease

Summary

This study is testing if the antibiotic doxycycline can prevent dangerous enlargement of heart arteries in children with Kawasaki disease. Researchers will give doxycycline to 50 children who have developed this complication to see if it stops the arteries from getting worse. The goal is to find a new treatment to prevent serious heart problems like heart attacks in these children.
