Puppy power: can dogs help calm emotional storms in kids with autism?
NCT ID NCT05803343
Summary
This study is testing whether adding therapy dogs to a group treatment program helps children with autism spectrum disorder manage emotional outbursts better than the same program without dogs. Researchers will compare two versions of the 'Regulating Together' program—one with dogs and one without—for 240 children ages 8-15 who struggle with emotional regulation. The goal is to see if dogs help children engage more, learn coping skills faster, and show greater improvement in controlling their emotions.
