Scientists test drug to protect Divers' bodies from pressure changes

NCT ID NCT06216366

Summary

This study is testing if an intravenous drug called rhu-pGSN can help control harmful inflammation in the body after rapid pressure changes, like those experienced by SCUBA divers. Healthy, trained divers will undergo a simulated deep dive in a special chamber and receive either the drug or a placebo before or after the dive. Researchers will measure markers of inflammation in the blood and check for signs of decompression sickness to see if the drug is safe and effective.
