Spectacles vs night lenses: which slows Kids' myopia better?

NCT ID NCT05134935

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether special glasses (DIMS) are as good as overnight contact lenses (Ortho-K) at slowing myopia progression in children aged 6-12. Ninety kids wore either the glasses or the lenses for 18 months. The main goal was to see if the glasses were not worse than the lenses at controlling eye growth.

Active substance

DIMS spectacles and Ortho-K contact lenses

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that DIMS spectacles are as good as Ortho-K lenses at slowing myopia progression, offering a non-contact alternative for children.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial with 90 children. Results may not apply to all kids, and both treatments have risks like eye infections or discomfort.
