Can a smartphone app boost weight-loss drugs for obese teens?
NCT ID NCT06836284
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding a digital behavioral tool called Evira to standard obesity medication (liraglutide or semaglutide) helps teens with obesity lose more weight than medication alone. Forty adolescents aged 12-17 will be randomly assigned to either the combination or medication-only group and followed for six months. The main goal is to see if the digital tool improves weight loss and treatment adherence.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
liraglutide or semaglutide (obesity medication) plus a digital behavioral tool called Evira
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that adding a digital behavioral tool to obesity medication helps teens lose more weight and stick with treatment better.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants and a short 6-month follow-up. The digital tool may not provide extra benefit over medication alone, and results may not apply to all teens.
