Summary

This study looks at whether taking a dietary nitrate supplement (found in beets and leafy greens) can prevent muscle loss and weakness when a leg is immobilized in a brace for 14 days. Researchers will measure muscle function and energy use in 24 healthy young men. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to protect muscles during recovery from injury or illness.
