Can a healthy lifestyle rewrite sperm DNA? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT04175678

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how diet and exercise can change the chemical markers on sperm DNA (called the epigenome) in overweight, inactive Hispanic men. Researchers will compare sperm from healthy active men and obese inactive men, then put 80 obese men into groups: no change, diet only, exercise only, or both. They will check sperm before, after 12 weeks of the program, and again 12 and 36 weeks later to see if changes last.
