New heart procedure may cause hidden breathing muscle damage
NCT ID NCT07462910
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at how often a newer heart procedure for atrial fibrillation (called pulsed field ablation) causes temporary or permanent paralysis of the diaphragm, the main muscle used for breathing. Researchers will use a special X-ray video (fluoroscopy) to check diaphragm movement before and after the procedure in 250 adults. The goal is to better understand this risk and how often it happens.
