Scientists investigate hidden breathing problems in new moms with separated abs

NCT ID NCT07389993

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at whether women who have given birth and have a condition called diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) — where the abdominal muscles separate — also have changes in their diaphragm and breathing muscles. Researchers will compare two groups of women (with and without DRA) using ultrasound and strength tests. The goal is to better understand how DRA might affect breathing, which could help improve future treatments.
