Kidney patients test two surgery options for lifesaving dialysis access

NCT ID NCT04376567

Summary

This small pilot study aimed to compare two standard surgical methods for creating a dialysis access point in the arm for people with kidney failure. Patients were randomly assigned to have the procedure done in either one surgery or two separate surgeries. The goal was to see which method worked better for keeping the access usable and improving patients' quality of life, but the study was stopped early after enrolling only two people.
